Chapter2 Koko: The Perfect Aero Bike For Jackson

Chapter2 Koko: The Perfect Aero Bike For Jackson

It was June 2022 and Jackson had decided it was time to ditch his off-the-shelf Merida Scultura in favour of something special, faster, and custom. The brief was to avoid the types of builds he was seeing on the road already and to as many 'aero' boxes as possible without spending the earth. The answer hailed from The Land of the Long White Cloud  - Chapter2 bikes.

Brand new to the market at the time we suggested the Chapter2 Koko paired with the brands own aero bars. With fully integrated cabling, a slippery high gloss finish and a rear tyre hugging seatube, Jackson was convinced the second he saw it.

We also recommended Reynolds AR58/62 full carbon wheels which offered stunning looks and aerodynamics at the amazing price of only $1999.

Similarly new to market at the time was Shimano's 12 speed Ultegra 12sp Di2 groupset. Coming from mechanical shifting, Jackson was like a pig in the proverbial when he discovered the effortlessness of Di2.

Running GP5000s (tubed), Selle Repente carbon rail saddle, and with bars wrapped in none other the Burgh Cycling tape, Jackson's feedback was simply: "so friggin' fast, man". A Bar Fly integrated computer mount attached easily to the aero bars.

Routing the hydro line through the fork was not a fun time (the fork leg does not offer a nicely ported tube unlike like other brands). And the aero spacers required use of fingers, toes, and teeth to stay put when installing the lines and integrated bar stem but that's not entirely uncommon these days.

At the end of the day this Chapter2 Koko turned out a beautiful aero bike that gave it's new owner a whole lot of joy. And we were super happy to put the project together for him!
