Specialized Aethos Custom Build

Specialized Aethos Custom Build

Dang brought us this special build just after the Aethos had been released so the drool factor was (and still is) high.

The bike runs 12 speed Dura Ace Di2 9270 but for the SLF Motion OSPW addition to the rear derailleur. Chain is of course waxed, with Silca Ultimate hot melt.

A Ceramic Speed BSA bottom bracket sits in the 68mm threaded shell (how refreshing for carbon frame!)

The traps for young players on this build were marrying the fine and soft alloy threads of both the frame BB shell and the Ceramic Speed BSA bottom bracket cups as well as getting torquing the Extralite stem T20 bolts correctly to avoid both slippage and cracking anything.

Carbon Shimano Pro bars are wrapped in Burgh Cycling handlebar tape with an Extralite stem connecting them to the bike.

A purple Sigeyi aftermarket derailleur hanger plays matchy matchy with purple Chris King R45D hubs laced to Enve SES 3.4 rims, and a purple God and Famous top cap. This wheelset actually came from Chris King in the US.

Dang chose Pirelli P-Zero gumwall tubeless tyres running Silca Ultimate tubeless sealant. He also went with Silca Sicuro Titanium bidon cages in Black Cerakote - these are super super nice. And he gets to sit pretty on a Romin Evo S-works saddle while dreaming up his next superbike build.
